If you are currently staying with us here is some information that could be useful.

Important Information:

  • Office Hours: 8am to 8pm, in summer we close for lunch from 12pm to 1pm
  • Gates Open at 6:30am
  • Gates Close at 10:30pm
  • No Pets allowed
  • No Noise after 10:30pm
  • No Fires allowed
  • In Case of an Emergency call management on 09 431 4675 or push the Intercom Button at the Office
  • Local Fire Station Siren (Air Raid Siren Sound) sounds like THIS. There is no need to be alarmed, this is only to notify our local volunteers.
  • Civil Defence Siren sounds like THIS. When you here this it is not a cause for immediate alarm\evacuation. Please turn on your radios and listen for further instruction. If an evacuation is necessary, management will ensure the Park is evacuated.

  • All water around the park is safe to drink
  • We sell Ice, Ice-Cream and Cold Drinks over the summer period.
  • Your gate code works on both sides of the Park
  • Your toilet code works on all 3 ablution blocks in the Park
  • Main Town Centre is at Wood Street.
  • Shops in town include: 4 Square, Liquor Shop, Takeaways, Sushi, Indian, Pharmacy, Ice-Cream, Post Shop, Bakery, Fishing Tackle Shop, Petrol Station and a number of Restaurants.

Cool Information:

  • You can walk to the Surf Beach and Picnic Bay via the North Side of the Park. Walk until you hit the road and turn right. Approx: 15 min. walk
  • Visit the jetty in front of the South Side of the Park and look out for the local Stingrays and other fish life
  • Walk to the Wood Street shops via the beach, walk until you see the colourful public toilet, behind that is about 50 stairs, once on top there are great views out towards the ocean and surrounding islands. Approx: 15 min. walk
  • Walk along the beach, south, until you find the local swimming pontoon, Great fun.
  • Same direction, go and see the typical Kiwi Baches on the beach.
  • Kayak or Jetski down the estuary to the Mangawhai Tavern, for a drink or lunch, preferably on High Tide.
  • Go find some cockles at low tide all along the estuary
  • Try your hand at fishing from Picnic Bay on an incoming tide.
  • Go slide, run, roll down the big sand dunes over at the Surf Beach
