The subtropical climate of the Mangawhai area provides a lush environment for wine and food growers in the hinterland. Enjoy live entertainment at the local bars and afternoon summer concerts at the vineyards and orchards.

A 6 km drive away is the Mangawhai Village hub with a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants.

A lively market every Saturday morning is held  at the Library Hall, Mangawhai Village, with a wide range of foods, products and crafts plus cafe fare, then pop across the road to our sensational Bennetts chocolate shop and cafe. View the chocolatiers in action concocting delectable delights to tempt our taste buds or just peruse the mouthwatering  selection of artisan fare made on site. Finish the morning with a delicious lunch at their Mediteranean style cafe.

Around the corner is the fabulous “Smashed Pipi” gallery and attached restaurant.   With it’s gorgeous display of  NZ made unique and interesting  ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood and textiles. A relaxed cafe style restaurant offering such favourites as “smashed pipi fritters”

Next door you will find “Fresh” which offers a range of quality fruit and vegetables along with other delectable pantry fare and fridges stocked with yummy pies, bake at home breads, yoghurts etc. try their scrummy icecream or get a coffee to go.

And one for the girls!! pop next door to “Meant to Be”. You will be sure to find the perfect item for yourself or as a gift.

If golfs your game, visit the 18 hole links style Mangawhai Golf Club at Mangawhai Heads.  With large greens, open fairways & full clubhouse facilities. You don’t need your own clubs as they have a full range of hire equipment including carts and fully equipped Pro shop. Meals are available on set nights.

To burn off a bit of energy and enjoy some amazing scenery, why not try one of the many beautiful walks this region has to offer. The famous  “Mangawhai Cliff Walk” starts at the surf beach up some steps and along the cliff and return along the beach if the tide is right. Fantastic views – allow 3 hours return.

Water water everywhere!! Whatever your passion Mangawhai is a water lovers paradise with swimming, surfing or boogie boarding at the surf beach or kayaking, water ski-ing or wind surfing in the sheltered harbour.  The nearby Hen & Chicken islands and beautiful coastline are an ongoing attraction for fishing and diving enthusiasts.  Fishing, diving or sight seeing can be arranged from full or half day charters with our charter boat operators.
